is there a way to monitor the temperature of the joints via code rather than from the dashboard so we can program the fans to turn on and off to regulate the temperature?

Are you talking about reachy1 or reachy2 ?

On Reachy 1 the temperature threshold triggering the fans can be modified by editing the fan_trigger_temperature field in /home/reachy/.reachy.yaml. Pick a temperature threshold value that suits you and after rebooting the robot it should be ok.
